Weather Conditions

Marrick Safari is situated very close to the centre of South Africa at 28.80°S 24.70°E - just at the eastern edge of the Northern Cape Province, of which Kimberley is the capital.

The Northern Cape is the largest and the most sparsely populated of the 9 South African Provinces.

Kimberley lies at an elevation of approximately 1200m [4000 ft] above sea level.

The climate around Kimberley is essentially a continental one - the weather provides hot wet summers (December to February) and mild dry winters (June to August).

The infrequent summer rains tend to take the form of occasional severe thunderstorms rather than prolonged soft showers.

It is not unusual for winter night-time temperatures to drop below freezing.
